Holiday Magic: Including Your Pet in the Celebration—Safely!

Our pets are part of the family, so it’s only natural to want them included in the holiday festivities! From cozy pajamas to family photos under the tree, there are so many fun ways to make memories together—while still keeping your furry friend safe and stress-free.

Here are a few ideas to include your pet in the season’s magic:

    • Pet-Friendly Decorating: Avoid tinsel, ribbon, and glass ornaments within reach. Try shatterproof decorations and keep cords tucked away.
    • Holiday Treats (With Caution): Skip table scraps, especially turkey bones, chocolate, onions, and grapes. Instead, bake a few pet-safe treats or pick up a special snack from your local pet store.
    • Family Photos: Capture your holiday card moment with your pet front and center—but plan for short sessions and plenty of praise.
    • Stocking Surprises: Wrap a toy or treat just for them! The crinkle of paper and the excitement of the moment make for adorable memories.
    • Mindful Moments: Between all the festivities, spend quiet time cuddling, walking, or playing—your pet will treasure that more than any present.

Including your pet in the holidays doesn’t have to be stressful or risky—with a little care, it can be one of the most heartwarming parts of your celebration.

If you’re unsure which holiday foods, decorations, or activities are safe for your pet, contact Cliffdale Animal Hospital at 910-487-5013. We’re here to help you keep your pets healthy and happy this holiday season!
